CHATEAU LYNCH MOUSSAS
Classified as a Fifth Growth property in 1855, Lynch-Moussas was originally a very large estate owned by the Irish Lynch family. It was eventually split into two halves, the other becoming Château Lynch-Bages, with Lynch-Moussas retaining the original building.
The terroir is typical of Pauillac, consisting mostly of gravel over a limestone subsoil. The 60-hectare vineyard is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The current expressions are well known for their deep, dark colour and their red-fruit nose. On the palate they are generous and round, with ripe tannins followed by the ubiquitous hints of blackcurrant that are found in the wines of Pauillac.
